Is it overly politically correct to avoid using the phrase "Merry Christmas" during the holidays?
It's quite possible yet it's always best to err on the side of caution. If you feel compelled to greet to someone, the phrase that will get you through would be "Happy Holidays". It offers a universal greeting without ties to any one religion in particular and it shouldn't cause too many who over hear it much grief if any...
